Hello and Hola, I'm Bianca! A Registered Dietitian and Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition and hold a Masters's Degree in Public Health. I was born in the Bronx but raised in Yonkers. I am proudly mixed with Afro-Caribbean and Latina roots. My interest and experience in nutrition range from counseling folks to eat well to advocacy for change in food policy. I found myself nestled into the maternal and children health and wellness space because of the very real impact of health inequities in black + brown communities, especially around food access and breastfeeding initiation and exclusivity rates.
I am a firm believer in preventative care and where better to start than at the inception of life carried by the super being that is Women! I love counseling prenatal and lactating women and their children, That is why I started my practice; Nestle & Cradle LLC, which provides private individually tailored nutrition and lactation services to improve health outcomes for black + brown communities.
The health of the family begins with the mom having a well-nourished pregnancy, with the support to feed the baby, from colostrum to fully cooked nutritious meals. Let me help you start to build the foundational blocks!
Women of color's health is greatly impacted by nutrition and is especially important during pregnancy. It isn't talked about much in typical prenatal doctor visits but it's important to teach healthy eating during this time because it impacts 2, the mom and the infant to be at birth and beyond.
Ever Google what not to eat during pregnancy? Or what should I eat when I have morning sickness? Individualized guidance on nourishing the changing and developing pregnant body is important to prevent prevalent disease/maternal disorders before the confusing diagnosis is made and even more so when the diagnosis is present.
That's why at Nestle & Cradle I want to empower women to take control of their state of health by creating sustainable dietary habits and improving health outcomes for themselves and their children. Lactation comes into play via prenatal education and support postpartum when maybe there isn't much or when you really want to breastfeed forreal forreal.
